8 Top INTERVIEW QUESTIONS

After the SATYAM scandal fiasco we bring you these top most asked interview questions so in case you get a call you should be well prepared for the Job Interview....!

Review these typical interview questions and think about how you would answer them. Read
the questions listed; you will also find some strategy suggestions with it.
1. Tell me about yourself:

The most often asked question in interviews. You need to have a short statement prepared
in your mind. Be careful that it does not sound rehearsed. Limit it to work-related items
unless instructed otherwise. Talk about things you have done and jobs you have held that
relate to the position you are interviewing for. Start with the item farthest back and work up
to the present.

2. Why did you leave your last job?

Stay positive regardless of the circumstances. Never refer to a major problem with
management and never speak ill of supervisors, co-workers or the organization. If you do,
you will be the one looking bad. Keep smiling and talk about leaving for a positive reason
such as an opportunity, a chance to do something special or other forward-looking reasons.

3. What experience do you have in this field?

Speak about specifics that relate to the position you are applying for. If you do not have
specific experience, get as close as you can.

4. Do you consider yourself successful?

You should always answer yes and briefly explain why. A good explanation is that you have
set goals, and you have met some and are on track to achieve the others.

5. What do co-workers say about you?

Be prepared with a quote or two from co-workers. Either a specific statement or a
paraphrase will work. Jill Clark, a co-worker at Smith Company, always said I was the
hardest workers she had ever known. It is as powerful as Jill having said it at the interview
herself.

6. What do you know about this organization?

This question is one reason to do some research on the organization before the interview.
Find out where they have been and where they are going. What are the current issues and
who are the major players?

7. What have you done to improve your knowledge in the last year?

Try to include improvement activities that relate to the job. A wide variety of activities can
be mentioned as positive self-improvement. Have some good ones handy to mention.

8. Are you applying for other jobs?

Be honest but do not spend a lot of time in this area. Keep the focus on this job and what
you can do for this organization. Anything else is a distraction.

December 2016 INFOSYS placement paper at jaipur

Updated for 2026

2017 INFOSYS Placement PAPER ON 3rd September AT JAIPUR.

The pattern was exactly the same as mnc team saw in exams held in 2017.

The written exam was divided into two sections :

1) Aptitude (Refer VERBAL & NON VERBAL RS AGARWAL)

2) English (was general, but level is tough).

To sum up the process, mnc team were firstly asked to fill a simple application form.

Do remember to take a passport size photo as it is required to be submitted along with the form.

After that mnc team were given the aptitude paper first.

APTITUDE

It comprised of 30 questions to be solved in a span of 40 mins.

As opposed to the regular trend mnc team did not get any ques from cube & dices, though u should prepare it.

The sections mnc team got are as follows :

1)Puzzle - Consist of 7 to 8 students living in same hostel . Names of all students r given, with their height & room no. but in jumbled way. U hav to find the tallest, shortest & respective room no. (Do chapter 6 PUZZLE Test frm RS AGARWAL)

2)Series - mnc team were given 5 figures, mnc team had to find the odd figure in series(Do SERIES, analogy-PART II Non verbal reasoning RS AGARWAL)

3)Data Sufficiency (Do DATA SUFFICIENCY-SECTION 1 General mental ability from RS AGARWAL)

4)Data Interpretation - Practice from "quantitative aptitude by RS AGARWAl )

5)Puzzle again.

6)Logical - SECTION-II chapter-1 LOGIC REASONING RS AGARWAL, Mug up all rules given & practice all exercises)

Suggestion :

1)Do not waste time in practicing & attempting the DATA INTERPRETATION as the question u will get to solve will be lengthy. So neither practice it nor waste time attempting it in exam. If u hav time Left only then attempt it.

) Do not practice Shakuntla devi for aptitude test but solve it for job interview as in job interview they may ask some puzzle to be solved by u.

3)The syllabus i would recommend u - go thru the following chapters :

"VERBAL & NON VERBAL REASONING BY RS AGARWAL"

SECTION 1 - GENERAL MENTAL ABILITY

1)Blood relations

2)Puzzle test

3)Logical Venn Diagrams (very very easy, don't waste much time)

4)Ranking & time sequence Test

5)Data Sufficiency

SECTION 2 - LOGIC REASONING

1)Logic (just do all exercise & memorise all 9 rules)

SECTION 3 -NON-VERBAL REASONING

1)SERIES (just practice some of them, these kind of questions depend on the fact that waha pe strike hota hain ya nahin.)

2) Analogy

3)Cubes & Dices

"QUANTITATIVE APTITUDE BY RS AGARWAL"

1)Data Interpretation

There were no different sets for the exam, mnc team all got the same set of questions with exactly same choices.

ENGLISH

English -40 Ques- 35mins

Level of questions is very good. I think it is of CAT level.

So practice some topics like prepositions , Error finding, tenses, fill up the blanks from any good English objective book.

1) Two COMPREHENSIONS

You would be asked to answer certain questions based on the comprehension.

First read all the given questions & then read the given comprehension.

COMPLETE 1st comprehension given in the paper, leave the other one & complete other questions. IF time remains answer the leftover comprehension.

2) 5 questions

Four sentences are given , with very less difference , u have to find the most correct one.

3) Some fill in the blanks .

4)Some small paragraphs r given , u have to infer the msg given by that para, 4 options r given choose most appropriate one.

THIS WAS ALL FOR THE WRITTEN.

job interview

Carry your resume.

The job interview is just to gauge your communication skills, basically whether you can speak or not or are confident enough.

Tell us something about Yourself - Mention your current educational status i.e name of college, degree & special. Move on to emphasis on your skills.

Support every skill with an exanple when asked for. For example if you mention you are good at team work. You may be interrupted by the interviewer & asked to explain that why you feel you are good at team work.

Every strength, quality, weakness or any word you utter will be listened to sharply. So be prepared for an example & a statement to support it.

Many students were asked some General Knowledge questions too, a list is added below. Thru these they r not tryin to see how much u know, but how u behave in a stressful situtaion when u don’t know something. Just straight away say NO to any ques of which u dont kno the & of & if u kno any fact related to it produce it.

HOBBIES. Prepare fully all the facts related to ur hobbies , as interwier may ask any ques related to ur hobbies.

As I m from Rajasthan so he asked me about the Maharaja of Udaipur, Jaipur & Jodhpur.

As I m Jain so he asked me some questions related to Jainism, The birth & nirvana place of Mahavir Bhagwan etc.

Also asked me some questions related to Windows Vista & Xp

INFOSYS PAPER ON 12TH september 2017

THE WRITTEN TEST PAPER--------
APTITUTE-(30 mins)

1) THE FIRST TYPE QUESTION(1-5) was a puzzle..it was something like there were 4 guests n the two host sitting on the dining table.the two hosts sit opposite..no two males sit together(it wa something like tht i dont exactly remember)..It was quite tricky and i would suggest u to attempt those at the last...

2)THE SECOND TYPE OF QUESTION(6-10) was based on figure...most of them were adjusted clockwise or anticlockwise..give a try..i hope it works for u too..

3)THE THIRD TYPE OF QUESTION(11-15) was the general puzzle question from RS Agarwal a bit time consumingbut u can do it...

4)THE FOURTH TYPE OF QUESTION(16-20)was data intepretion..this was a simple question like the other br graph questions given in RS AGARWAL..But was time consuming..So hurry through...Dont waste time looking around..And always keep calm n cool..

5)THE FIFTH TYPE OF QUESTION(21-25) were the data sufficiency questions(all of them were numerical)..For solving these questions u need to hv a knowledge of the data required to solve a question...For example if u have to find the volume of a cylinder u should know its height and radius..

6)THE SIXTH TYPE OF QUESTION(26-30) was based on syllogism..well practice them from RS AGARWAL and i will suggest u to try them with the help of venn diagram and u will do it in a flash..

ENGLISH-(40min) It had 40 questions-
1)TIPS:....just practise from any of your school days books and thats more than sufficient.and do pay enphasis on GRAMMAR.
TYPE 1) 2 Passages: the lengthiest of the questions...as every prior infoscian i too would suggest to attemp them at the last
TYPE 2) 2-3 lines given with a part underlined(containing silly grammatical mistake) .Take it as a late birthday gift..It cant get easier than that.
TYPE 3) a word was given and the closest meaning was to be selected.TIPS: :read carefully and analyse which is most suited. Its actually general words but or a bit tougher..But u can do it if u analyse carefully.
type 4) 7-8 lines complex paragraph and 4 options to each were given,we were supposed to relate each sentence with the paragraph and
choose the one which can be directly concluded from the passage. These were quite easy.I suggest you try these with a calm mind..

2018 INOSYS PLACEMENT PAPER PATTERN 2

INOSYS PLACEMENT PAPER PATTERN 2

The written exam pattern is completely changed it consists of two sections :
---Reasoning
---Verbal ability

In Reasoning all over 30questions were asked for 35minutes
1st five questions are of "Number Ranking and sequencing"

few questions which i remember:
1. IF Ram's rank from the beginning is 10th in a classroom of students and ranks 12th from the last. how many students are there in the classroom.
ANS. 9 students before ram +ram+ 11 students from end==== 9+1+11=21
similarly some models of above..

2. IF therre are 31 students in a classroom and if ram stands 13th from beginning ,wat is his rank from the end.?

3. IF Ram ranks 12th from beginning and Shyam ranks 11th from end . and if Ram and Shyam exchange their places. then Shyam's rank from end is 15th from end . wat is the rank of Ram from the beginning now?

4.& 5. similar model.
6----10 questions were based on missing figures ,
11----15 were based on DATA SUFFICENCY (easy ones only)
16--20 were based on data interpretation
A pie chart which gives the distribution of the "times group magazine"it consists of two cirlces ,the incircle gives the disturbution of one newspaper "times of india" and the outcirlce gives the distribution of " indiatimes.com" on same parameters.......
5 questions were asked on this piechart
doesnt need much of calculations...

21--25 seating arrangemnt of 11 students A,B,C,D,E.F,G,H,I,J,K. ( 4 CONDITIONS WERE GIVEN LIKE)
D ,who sits to immeidite left of E,is 2nd to the left of C.

26----30 "SYLLOGISMS" we have to draw the conclusion of two statements which are logically connected,,,it is based on distribution lists of subject and predicate in both statements,..verify " logical reasonin g by r s agarwal,or time material of reasoning"
example: some cats are dogs.
all dogs are pigs.
the conlcusion for this is " some pigs are cats"

the second paper is " VERBAL; ABILITY"----OBJECTIVE--40MIN
1---5 READING COMPREHENSION
5--10 READING COMPREHENSION( ONE EASY ONE TOUGH)

21 ---25 a statement is given where the underlined phrase or line has to be corrected
we have to find the right choice from the options;<>
26---30 fill in the blanks with the right option there again tenses ,prepostions,,conjunctions,,
30---40 logical reasoning where a certain situation is given we have to find the conclusion of it or the assumption of the author...
in verbal ability time management is important

Infosys PAPER ON 21ST november 2007

PAPER ON 17th JULY MJCET , HYDERABAD 2007

Hello friends , this is harsha tumuluri, i would like to thank all the students who gave their suggestions at the frehshersworld.com....we had our infosys campus placement today at Muffakham jah college of engg and technology , it was an oncampus for us....

At first the pre placement talk will be given , please do listen to that carefully and if possible jot down some necessary points...i would rather suggest u to learn about the history of inofosys from the wikipedia.org or u can go to the infosys website....

After the preplacement talk we were asked to fill up the forms , the details of that will be given by the ppl over there...but do fill ur %'s correctly as they may later on verify and they even take the signature from u stating that all the data written on that form is true...

QUANTITATIVE EXAM: 30 questions 40 minutes
1) The quant paper was average , the first question was a shocker and it was a big paragraph in which a question related to the card game "flash"
was asked(sorry i dont remember)
2) Questions 5 to 10 were on the figures , 3 figures will be given and u have to spot the next figure.
U can get these questions from classifications chapter in R S Agarwal(non verbal reasoning)
3) Questions 10-15 were on data sufficiency(RS Agarwal section 1 verbal and non verbal)
4) Questions 15-20 were on data interpretation ,some pie chart was given and questions were asked on that.(data interpretation RS agarwal
quantitative aptitude book)
5) Questions 20-25 were on questions like u need to contruct a table and fill in the date to answer such question.(I would suggest u to do the
entire puzzle test chapter in the RS agarwal verbal n non verbal reasoning book perfectly)
6) Questions 25-30 were syllogisms, they were not the regular syllogism's like 2 statements will be given and u need to derive a conclusion , 6
statements were given and u need to find out the corect combination of the sentences which form a sense.
These type of problems can be found in RS agrawal(verbal n non verbal ssection 2 -logic) do all of them.

Blood relations, number ranking sequence ,series , cubes and dices are very important although they were not asked for us....

ENGLISH EXAM: 40 questions 30 mins
If ur basics are strong then no need to go through any books , yeah but if u want to have practice then try to solve the problems of wren and martin grammer n composition
(prepositions, tenses, direct and indirect speech, conditions statements)
2 RC's will be given , dont start with this , time will not be sufficient...
start with other sections like sentence corection(10 Q's) , fill with appropriate word (10 Q's), deriving conclusion from the passages(10 Q's).
some people wuld suggest to solve CAT problems for this but i personally feel that the questions given were not even close to the CAT standard....they were very simple.
But yeah u can go thru the correct usage of the tenses and prepostions from the CAT material...
We waited for 2 hrs and after that the results were declared , i was shortlisted..

HR INTERVIEW:
Try to stay very cool and calm , i know that it is very tough but just try to b e relaxed. Don't panic b4 the interviewer , just consider them as ur frends or consider him as a person who doesnt know anything and u are explaining to him!! Keep smiling and be confident , they look at ur confidence....They will have a look at ur resume and then ask questions from them , will give u a sheet of paper in which there will be 5 topics u have to choose one and speak on that topic , one real time problem will be given and how do u face that...and finally puzzles will be asked..
be prepared with topics like IT companies growth , which sectors in india are considered to develop in the next few years....If u have organized any event then they will ask u about that event n the difficulties faced in that event and how did u overcome it?? few puzzles will be given like

1)how can u make 5 one rupee coins to touch each other...every coin shud touch the other 4 coins...
2) U are given a 3 containers 20 liters , 5 liters and 3 liters and the 20 litre can is full of milk , u need to get 4 liters of milk somehow by using all the containers..
3) 6 match sticks will be given u need to contruct a structure such that it has 4 equilateral triangles...ans is contruct a pyramid with base as triangle

Guys be careful about ur hobbies , one of my frends said that his hobby was volleyball and immediately the HR person asked doubts like what is the weight of the ball , dimentions of the court and height of net etc.....the interviewer is just trying to annoy u by asking these questions , dont panic and say confidently that u dont know!
or else u learn every thing about ur hobbies....I am a fan of tennis so b4 going to the interview i learned that weight of the tennis ball is 57g and height of the net is 36 inches in the middle and 42 at the ends , the different courts and etc

Infosys PAPER ON 21ST JULY 2007

Infosys PAPER ON 21ST JULY 2007

APTITUDE:

All questions were of REASONING type -----30 questions(R.S Aggarwal reasoning book is more than enough)

here time management is very important

One question was time consuming for me and

that was from the puzzle test so be prepared wid all 7 models of PUZZLE TEST

we had DATA INTETERPRETATION and as i couldnt solve the 1st question properly i had to solve this

so dont waste time for the questions u cannot solve instead do the one which is easier n refer(r s aggarwal quantitative aptitude for this)

mostly bar charts, tables and pi charts are given(we were given a table)

5 questions were from FIGURES

we were given 3 figures followed by a '?'

in this the 1st two figures are have some relationship b/w them n based on that we hav to pick an answer figure which matches the 3rd figure

this was an easy one

5 questions were from SYLLOGISM

this was a bit different from wht i thought

they give 5 statements naming them a,b,c,d,e

then the answers choices were like 3 were paired eg:1)abe 2)dbe 3)aeb 4)dae

and we hav to find the pair which corretly matchs it if u do r.s aggarwal n r perfect wid all rules of syllogism i dont thing this would b tough

5 questions were of DATA SUFFICIENCY type

i felt this was easy

the questions i remember were from mensuration, length of train, ages of people

thts it in this part, we were not told the cutoff but i think its better to try for atleast 20 out of 30

VERBAL:

40 questions were there

i scored 24 marks

there were 2 RCs one was of 2 pages i attempted in the last 5 min but i did it well i believe

then we had

correction of sentences

fill in the blank with correct word

around 5to 6 passages for which we had go choose the correct summary

u hav to read these very fast

time management is very very imp. here

do not waste even one min looking here and there coz tht one min costs a loooooooot

finally i was called my name for HR n i was on the top of the world

i actually got thru wipro also but the joy of getting into a dream company is just great

one should definately experience it

HR:

One important thing is tht dont think tht its just HR

u should always remember tht there is one more hurdle to pass

in my 1st interview i hav learnt a lot "wht to do n wht not to do in the HR round" so if u hav not yet been placed then first analyze why tht has happened n try to improve on that coz there r huge oppertunities in this world

some way or the other u can get thru once u improve on ur flaws

so be confident and dont be jelous abt the ones who hav already got its a very bad thing

My HR round was coool

HR: come in swathi

me: yes sir

HR: cmon take ur seat

me: thank u sir (he had asked my resume and asked me to sign on it n also at few places on the application form)

HR: so ur father works as so n so

me: yes sir

HR: so where does he work

me: said

HR: do u hav ny bros or siss

me: said

HR: whr did he do his scholling

me: said (so be prepared wid ur family members' details also)

HR: so ur hobbies r travelling n music

me: yes sir

HR: whre hav u travelled

me: said a lot of places in India n i mentioned tht i like cold places

HR: k then which was the coldest place u saw

me: shillong in winter, then comes munnar

HR: so would there b snow fall fall

me: (me sadly)no sir yet to see such a place once

HR: do u like travelling coz of ur fathers transferable job

me: no sir even otherwise i never miss a chance to travel

HR: he gave me 3 topics and asked me to speak on 1

me: spoke abt supermarket (he was impressed)

HR: is there an incident in ur life whr u hav improved or had to changed ur work culture

me: said

HR: then she asked me abt my paper presentation(it was on face detection which comes under AI)

HR: how would u explain to a 7th class kid abt AI

me: i definately had an answer for tht so i answered n i think he was happy wid my answer

HR: k swathi there r 6 matchsticks here arrange them so that "each one touches one another"

me : i could make 5 to touch each other but not the 6th one

HR: then he asked me to make 4 equlateral triangles with those sticks

me: (the answer is to make a pyramid out of it)i almost did it then he sait to leave it aside

HR: ok so wht sports do u play

me: i enjoy playing badminton and these days i hav started playing TT too n i njoy tht too

HR: do u hav any questions?

me: asked 2 questions n he had answered them very patiently

HR: k then u can leave now and cal the next person and ALL the Best

me: thank u sir
